During our first session, I will gather information from you (presenting problems, current services, interests/activities, living situation, and history (abuse/trauma, treatment, services, and education) to determine an appropriate diagnosis. You and I will also discuss your goals.
A typical therapy session is 30-53 minutes. However, the time frame for how long you stay in treatment varies. Some people come for a few months and some come for many years. You and I will work together on a plan for your treatment. We will also check in regularly to determine when you have reached your goals.
Typically, clients come in once per week. However, some come in less frequently. You and I will determine how often you will need to come in for sessions.
Confidentiality is one of the most important parts of therapy because successful therapy requires a high level of trust. With few exceptions, what you discuss in therapy will not be shared with others without your permission. Therapists are legally mandated to make certain disclosures in cases where there is suspicion of harm to yourself, harm to others, or child abuse. All disclosures will be discussed with you in advance.
I strive to make services available for everyone who needs them. I offer a flexible sliding scale so that I may help clients in circumstances of financial difficulty. I also accept several insurance plans.
Therapy is a space where you can talk about everything you need. It is my goal to ensure you feel safe and not judged.
